Experiment Finds Noise Affects Taste of Foods
Posted by: dave - 10/15/10

In a recent study done by reasearchers from the University of Machester and Unilever R&D Vlaardingen of The Netherlands, studies show that background noise not only affects food quality, but will actually decrease perceived saltiness, sweetness and overall taste! It was also concluded that food properties related to sound are differently affected by varying levels of background noise and that in louder settings, participants found that food was in fact more crunchy.
This report is covered by both BBC News and the journal Food Quality and Preference.
